Ciencias Espaciales Journal is a biannual publication of the Faculty of Space Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Honduras. Each calendar year, one volume is published, consisting of two issues. The first issue is called the Spring Issue (published no later than June 15th of each year), and the second is the Autumn Issue (published no later than December 15th of each year). Both issues include articles in the fields of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Geographic Information Science and Technology, Archaeoastronomy and Cultural Astronomy, and Aeronautical Sciences. The background color of the journal's cover changes annually, depending on the department responsible for coordinating the publication.

 

Ciencias Espaciales Journal has an Editorial Board comprised of a director, an editor-in-chief, editors for each field of knowledge, and invited external academics. They are responsible for receiving submissions and managing the article selection, editing, and publication process. Ciencias Espaciales Journal also has an International Scientific Council responsible for ensuring the quality of the journal's content. The names of the Director, Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, and Scientific Council members are published inside the cover.

 

Ciencias Espaciales Journal publishes original research works adhering to ethical standards and best practices for scientific and academic publications. Therefore, it follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors, based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/become-member) and the Research Ethics Manual at UNAH (https://diciht.unah.edu.hn/dmsdocument/973-serie-4). Published articles may pertain to scientific research in the fields of study offered by the Faculty of Space Sciences. The content of each article is the responsibility of its authors. Articles undergo double-blind peer review.

The editorial board will not permit the publication of copied or translated works presented as original, nor in cases where the author has copied from any of their own previously published works. Specialized software will be used for plagiarism detection as a guarantee of the originality of the works received.

The editorial board reserves the right to reject or return for revision any article deemed incomplete or inappropriate. Before an article is published, its authors must provide evidence of having obtained permission to use figures and data, if necessary. If an article has multiple authors, evidence must be provided that all co-authors wish to publish it.

Ciencias Espaciales Journal is fully funded by the National Autonomous University of Honduras. There are no fees charged to authors or readers.

Ciencias Espaciales Journal is indexed in the Central American Journal Online (CAMJOL) database and in the Latindex catalog and database.

Ciencias Espaciales Journal uses the OAI/PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) standard as an interoperability protocol for the automated exchange of metadata.
