Abstract

In this research, the temporal behavior of the weekly transformation parameters obtained from the final solutions of geocentric coordinates [XYZ]T of continuously operating GNSS stations in Costa Rica was analyzed. These stations materialize the National Geodetic Reference Frame CR-SIRGAS. The sets of parameters were determined by applying the Molodensky–Badekas similarity transformation model. The transformation parameters and their annual rates of variation were estimated for the period between epochs 2019.2400 and 2022.9000, processing a total of 191 weeks of final weekly solutions.

The study focused on analyzing the results of the transformation processes considering tolerance values of ±10 mm, ±20 mm, and ±30 mm, and their influence on the statistical behavior of the residuals. The results showed that the translations exhibited magnitudes below 10 mm with significant annual variations, while the rotations were minimal, with variations smaller than 5 milliarcseconds per year.

The research demonstrated that a tolerance of ±30 mm made it possible to obtain sets of parameters from geodetic configurations that were appropriate in both the spatial and stochastic components. Likewise, it was observed that the coordinate differences increased almost linearly with the elapsed time between epochs, being more noticeable in the north component.
