Los países del hemisferio norte tienen tecnología para el desarrollo de estudios científicos. Sin embargo, los países de América Central se han debilitado por la falta de tecnología. La preparación académica en los países del hemisferio sur es muy competitiva, ya que los estudiantes realizan una tesis que los hace adecuados para postular directamente a estudios de doctorado en América del Norte y Europa. Sin embargo, el número de becas de pregrado y posgrado ha disminuido en el hemisferio sur.
