Abstract

The right to good public administration implies that citizens have the right to access efficient and transparent public services. However, one of the main challenges to the realization of this right is public corruption since it corrupts the distribution of resources and public services and erodes the trust that citizens have in public officials.

In response to this challenge, the focus has been on punishing corrupt officials through criminal law without addressing the underlying causes of corruption or its prevention. Through this paper, it is concluded that comprehensive strategies must be devised not only to sanction but also to prevent corruption within public administration.
