Abstract

Through a comparative case law study, this paper seeks to contribute to the debate regarding the equilibrium between the protection of an individual’s human right to financial privacy and other legitimate societal interests. It explores the notion of and the right to privacy, with a particular focus on financial privacy as one of its facets. The examination includes an analysis of bank secrecy as a method for safeguarding financial privacy.
