This paper discusses the trajectory of Fontibon Experimental Theatre (FET), since its
creation, objectives and forms of expression. Its connection to street theatre, comparsas
technique, Theatre of the Oppressed, as well as the opening of its theatre venue, will be
observed as models of popular theatre that are based on perspectives of political
engagement. Considering the intentional use of theatre as a strategy for social
transformation, this paper will analyze the political-artistic performance of this group,
according to the logic of peacebuilding from below. Therefore, a qualitative and exploratory
methodological approach is adopted to make the connections between the Theatre for Peace
literature and the practical dimension of the Case Study. The historical trajectory and
performance of the FET can be seen in its contributions to the local peace building
processes, in particular by developing collective and solidary practices for the
transformation of the narratives of the Colombian conflict from the perspective of socially
vulnerable groups.
